Halogen, which is retained by Connaught Village landlords The Church Commissioners for England to promote the upmarket retail quarter, handled media relations for the inaugural Connaught Village Festival which took place on 24 May
The event saw Londoners and sports car enthusiasts for far and wide pour into Connaught Street, Kendal Street and Porchester Place, London W2 to see the 30+ classic, super and race cars that were the focus of the Festival. Streets in the area just to the west of London’s Oxford Street, were shut off for six hours for the Festival, which was hosted by Derek Bell, the five times winner of Le Mans, who toured the Village and posed with shopkeepers and members of the public by many of the stunning cars. The event follows on from the recent branding of the area, which is about 150 meters west of London’s Marble Arch and comprises some 50 shops, restaurants and galleries as Hyde Park’s Luxury Retail Quarter
Derek Bell commented: “The inaugural Connaught Village Festival gave Londoners a chance to see an outstanding line-up of classic and sport motorcars close up in a unique setting. They got to see some of the finest cars in the UK displayed in front of some of the great shops and galleries of London that form this surprising village oasis so close to Hyde Park and Oxford Street”
Commented Rosemarie Carty of Connaught Village landlords the The Church Commissioners for England: “This was an outstanding chance to bring new customers this fantastic part of London and also link what was a high profile, distinguished event with the equally upmarket Connaught Village brand. Shoppers and visitors who had not visited before were able to enjoy the cars and, in doing so, discover Connaught Village and its tremendous independent and upmarket offer. Also - something that is really important to us – the event brought Connaught Village together as a community. Some of our residents even loaned their own collectable and racing vehicles for the evening”
Located between Marble Arch and Bayswater, Connaught Village is developing a distinctive identity as an upmarket enclave of exclusive, independent shops, restaurants and galleries
