Marketing communications specialist Halogen recently organised a press day with a twist for AIM listed Hawtin
With Chief Executive Richard Hayward soon to race in the extreme 2007 Dakar rally, a track day for regional and business journalists was planned. The event was held in Newport less than a month before the start of the rally in January 2007
As part of the event, journalists were driven around an off-road racing track in Hayward’s ‘Bowler Wildcat’ race car - described by BBC Top Gear's Richard Hammond as "the best off-roader in the world”. This was followed by a photo call and interviews
Halogen Director Dan Innes commented: “The Hawtin press day was a perfect example of lateral thinking and an innovative approach to proactive media relations. It was particularly focused on achieving ‘off property-page’ coverage. We overcame the challenge of organising an event in the Welsh countryside a couple of weeks before Christmas, and were able to successfully raise Hawtin’s profile amongst key titles, as well as creating a springboard for continued media interest in 2007”
