Halogen will be running the Press Office at retail property organisation BCSC’s Annual Conference & Retail Showcase again this year. The 2005 event, which has been sponsored by urban regeneration specialist CUSP, is to be held in Belfast from 31 October – 2 November. It is set to be the largest conference in the city’s history with some 1,800 participants expected to take part
It is the 6th time that the Halogen team has run the full-service Press Office at this prestigious annual event – as part of its wider role as BCSC’s corporate PR consultants. It is anticipated that up to 30 journalists from local, national and international print and broadcast media will attend during the three day Belfast event which is themed ‘Service? What Service!’ and will focus on customer service issues
BCSC’s 2005 Conference keynote speakers include: Senator George Mitchell, Chair of peace negotiations in Northern Ireland and Partner of DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary; Stuart Rose, Chief Executive of Marks & Spencer; Sir Tom Farmer, former Chairman of Kwik-Fit; Olympic Gold Medallist Sir Matthew Pinsent; Senator Feargal Quinn, Founder of Superquinn; and Francis Salway, Chief Executive of Land Securities, among others. The main Conference sessions, which are sponsored by Photo-Me International, will take place in Waterfront Hall
At the same time, more than 65 exhibitors including retailers, developers, landlords, agents and service providers will be exhibiting in the Retail Showcase in St George’s Market. AM Development, developer of the new Victoria Square in Belfast, is sponsoring the Retail Showcase – which is fully sold out - while Donaldsons is sponsoring the Retail Showcase Bar. Exhibitors include Asda, The British Land Company Plc, Capital Shopping Centres, CUSP, Derry City Council, Dundrum Town Centre, Entertainment UK Ltd, Grosvenor, Hammerson plc, Henderson Global Investors, Hermes Property Asset Management, House of Fraser, ING Real Estate Development UK, ING Real Estate Investment Management, Land Securities, Modus Properties, Multiplex Developments (UK) Limited, Starbucks, Subway, Tchibo GB Ltd, Tesco Stores Ltd, TK Maxx, UBS Global Asset Management and Westfield
The BCSC Conference Press Office is designed to be a communications hub and not only provide computer and telephone links along with mail box services, but also serve as a place where BCSC Executives, conference speakers and exhibitors can make press contacts, undertake interviews or get the latest news. Halogen’s team not only provides the communications support but also assists journalists in finding various experts and contacts as well as escorting camera and radio crews during visits to the Retail Showcase. This is seen as crucial to both getting and extending BCSC’s core messages about the importance of retail and retail property to the UK economy and regeneration
Belfast and the surrounding areas will also be the backdrop to a wide range of activities including study tours, an industry golf tournament and considerable entertaining including a major Irish-themed evening, sponsored by Westfield, to be held at City Hall
