BCSC Conference hits the headlines

Halogen has ensured that BCSC’s Conference & Exhibition remains a key date in the retail property calendar, keeping the high profile event in the media spotlight for the tenth year in a row

Around 2,200 participants from the industry, over 25 journalists and a host of expert speakers passed through the doors of Manchester Central and Bridgewater Hall from 9-11 November. There was also a guest appearance from Sir Alex Ferguson

In the build-up to Conference, Halogen focused on promoting the major themes and issues facing the industry to be debated at the event. Press briefings were arranged for Conference Chair Alistair Parker with trade journals such as Property Week and Construction News

Over the three days, the Halogen team coordinated numerous media interviews for BCSC spokespeople and compiled press releases on keynote speeches from Roger Bootle of Capital Economics, the Rt. Hon. Michael Portillo, and Peter Williams of ASOS and Cineworld

This year, for the first time, Halogen ran an exhibition stand and press office in the main exhibition hall, providing an additional point of information for exhibitors and journalists

Linda Welch, Director at Halogen, said: “It is increasingly difficult for journalists to get out of the office, which means that we had to work with even more efficiency to disseminate news and press releases to all our contacts as the conference debates were taking place. By embracing new media channels, we also saw a much higher rate of online coverage, including blogs and Property Week’s online TV channel, as well as Twitter.”
